Removing and Replacing the Tape Drive Cable Retention Bracket.



5. Disconnect the cable from the back of the diskette drive.



6. Release the diskette drive carrier from its slot in the media bay:

a. Gently squeeze down on the plastic tabs on the side of the carrier while pushing toward the front of the system until you feel the carrier sliding

freely forward.

b. Slide the carrier forward and out of the chassis. See Figure3-22.

Installing the Diskette Drive Into the System



1. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.



2. Remove the front bezel, if attached. See Removing the Front Bezel.



3. Open the system. See Opening the System.



4. Install the diskette drive carrier into the system:

a. Align the slots on the bottom of the diskette drive carrier with the drive bay rails in the media bay.

b. Push the carrier toward the system front plate until the plastic latch on the carrier locks into position.



5. Attach one end of the ribbon cable to the floppy connector (FLOPPY) on the system board and the other end to the connector on the rear of the diskette

drive. See Figure6-2 for the location of the floppy cable connector on the system board.



6. Close the system. See Closing the System.



7. Replace the front bezel if removed in step 2. See Replacing the Front Bezel.



8. Reconnect the system and peripherals to their electrical outlets.



Removing the Diskette Drive From the Drive Carrier



1. Remove the diskette drive from the system. See Removing the Diskette Drive From the System.



2. Gently draw one side of the carrier away from the diskette drive until the drive pops from the tray. See Figure3-22.
