ULNM with KVM Virtualized Architecture
The Dell UPS Local Node Manager (ULNM) discovers and supervises Dell UPSs and PDUs connected
across a network, either by means of a card or proxy. It supervises the remote servers hosting the Dell
ULNM and also provides local computer graceful shutdown. The Dell ULNM interface can be accessed
remotely using a Web browser. Our objective is to provide virtualization support for Dell ULNM power
protection software.
The KVM virtualized architecture includes the following:
• KVM 0.12.1.2 on RHEL 6
• KVM 0.12.1.2 on Debian 5.0 (Lenny)
As illustrated in Figure 100, the Dell ULNM is installed on each KVM system and provides a graceful
shutdown solution for Red Hat KVM and open-source KVM.
Figure 101 illustrates the Dell ULNM configuration for KVM on RHEL 6 and Debian 5.0 architecture.
