5. Enter a name for the Restore job when prompted, and accept the defaults for the remaining screens in the restore
wizard.
6. Click Finish at the Restore Summary to run the Restore job.
7. Once the restore job completes, the Backup Exec services must be restarted.

Importing DDS From Drive Letter
To import the DDS from a drive letter, follow the steps below:
1. Bring up the Backup Exec console.
2. Click on the Backup Exec Button Configurations and SettingsLogon Accounts.
3. Create a Backup Exec Logon Account with the same credentials that was used to initially create the DDS.
4. Navigate to the Storage Tab Configure StorageDisk Based Storage Deduplication Disk Storage.
5. On the Configure Deduplication on a Dell DL Appliance window, select Yes when asked if you want to configure
DDS.
6. Provide a name for the DDS device.
7. Select Import an existing Deduplication Disk Storage Device.
8. Enter the path to the Deduplication Disk Storage device .
For example: K:\BackupExecDeduplicationStorageFolder\
9. Select the logon account created in step 3.
10. Select Finish to begin the import process.
Once the import is complete, the Backup Exec services must be restarted. See the topic “Restarting Backup Exec
Services For Backup Exec 2012”.

Retargeting Jobs To The New Deduplication Disk Storage
1. After a new DDS has been created and optionally restored from backup, retarget any backup or recovery jobs that
used the deleted DDS.
2. Refer to the specific solution map for the next step in the recovery process.
Deleting The Offline DSF
To delete the offline DSF, follow the steps below:
1. From the DL Backup to Disk Appliance Console Settings tab, set the Disk Configuration Policy to Manual.
2. Navigate to the Home tab.
3. Verify that the status of System, Disk subsystem, and Symantec Backup Exec services display as OK on the Home
tab of the Appliance Console then launch Backup Exec.
NOTE: Verify no jobs that use the DSF are running or scheduled to run.
4. In the Backup Exec console, go to the Devices view and locate the name of the appliance.
5. Right-click the name of the appliance and select Refresh.
6. Wait a
minimum of 5 minutes
for Backup Exec to update the status of all virtual disks before proceeding.
7. On the Device view in Backup Exec, locate the DSF in the device tree under the appliance name.
